SEATEL and Alipay Cooperate to Jointly Promote Cash-Free Tourism in Cambodia
On January 29, 2018, as the Chinese Lunar New Year is drawing near, South East Asia Telecom Group Ltd (“SEATEL”) and China biggest third-payment platform Alipay under Ant Financial announced their cooperation formally in Phnom Penh. SEATEL President Mr HAN Hanchou and Ms HUANG Yin, General Manager of South East Asia Cross-Border Business, Alipay gave a speech and signed the agreement respectively on behalf of his/her own company.
Ms HUANG Yin, General Manager of South East Asia Cross-Border Business, Alipay felt deeply optimistic about the prospects for this cooperation. Alipay comes to Cambodia with Chinese tourists, establishing cooperation with SEATEL's Mpay to connect to local merchants, which not only can make Chinese tourists enjoy Alipay’s convenient service anywhere and at any time just like they were in China but also make Cambodian merchants contact and attract more Chinese tourists, promoting cash-free tourism and enhancing mutual communications.”

Mpay is local payment platform in Cambodia. Until January 1, 2018, Mpay’s users have reached 260 thousand in total, among which 80 thousand users are active; contracting merchants are over 1,000, and transaction amount is nearly 6 million US dollars. In 2018, SEATEL will be expected to develop 300 thousand MPay registered users, over 10 direct connecting cooperation banks, over 5 thousand merchants and total transaction amount will be over 100 million US dollars.
